Julia Hart is a writer/director. Her first short film as a director, Emma Change The Locks, starring Olivia Williams (Rushmore, The Ghost Writer), premiered at Raindance Film Festival in 2015. It won a New Talent Award at the BFI Future Film Festival 2017.
Julia co-wrote Your Mother and I, based on a short story by pulitzer prize for fiction finalist Dave Eggers (Away We Go, Hologram For A King, The Circle). Your Mother and I is a short film directed by Anna Maguire starring Don McKellar (The Red Violin, Last Night), official selection at the Toronto International Film Festival 2016 and in competition at BFI London Film Festival 2016. It won best UK short at the London Short Film Festival 2017 and was nominated for a London Critics’ Circle Award.
More recently Julia directed Kid Gloves, starring Susan Wokoma and Joanna Brookes. It won the ECFF 2016 best short film, and best short film at the London Film Awards 2016.
